It’s been years since a new cellulite treatment has been FDA-approved, and of the existing treatments, all can promise only temporary results. This is why everyone is talking about QWO (a.k.a. collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes), a new treatment that recently received FDA approval to treat cellulite in the buttocks of women.
QWO promises to allow cosmetic surgeons to actually smooth dimpling on the buttocks with just an injectable. If this new “shot for cellulite” proves to be as effective as the clinical trials suggest it is, treating cellulite could be simpler than ever before. Here’s what we know so far about this new injectable, which is expected to become available at cosmetic surgeons’ offices in spring of 2021.
With QWO, women can choose the first and only FDA-approved injectable available that treats cellulite in the butts of adult women. SKIN ENVY Austin is proud to be one of the first practices to offer QWO cellulite treatment in Austin, TX, the first FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe cellulite dimples in the buttocks of women. We’re so excited to bring this revolutionary new product to our patients!
QWO is non-surgical. QWO is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.
How does QWO work?
Qwo works where other treatments have failed – it targets the structural cause of cellulite: the fibrous bands (septae) that tether down the skin’s surface and cause indentations. When Qwo is injected into the buttocks, it breaks down the fibrous bands (or septae) under the skin that cause those telltale “dimples.” When the tether dissolves over the next few weeks, the result is a smoother backside with no surgery and – BEST OF ALL – no downtime.
What happens in a treatment?
You will come in for your FREE cosmetic consultation to discuss your areas of concern. Your physician will go over the procedure in detail. The treatment is a package of 3 visits and are scheduled 21 days apart. Qwo Cellulite treatment is a short in-office injection that takes about 15 minutes. Your dimples are identified, marked, cleansed, and injected with a very small needle. Mild tenderness and some swelling & bruising is common, but no downtime is required – you can go back to normal activities the same day. For best results, Qwo is administered in a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart.
When will a patient see’s optimal results?
Some may see results in as little as 10 weeks.
